Awww, Mikiko… my exact plight!!

My most devastating artistic blocks have always been when I couldn’t pick up my drawing implements at all. But the second worst “type”, I think, is the one where I can effortlessly sketch rather than doing important things…and it’s all one character. In the olden days it was Persona characters, then it became musicians. Nothing could ever be solidified!

The solution to all of this has, unironically, been picking up the = mouse and MS Paint. The childishness of it completely overrides everything else, and this has had amazing effects. Mikiko should try such a thing sometime… that is, if her canvas doesn’t get filled with loads of Orihime… 😉

For me it is simply not having the time or motivation to write the books I have planned in my head. There’s also the constant self-criticism of “no one would like/notice it anyway so why publish it”.

I don’t draw, but I think everyone has a habit of copying art they like when they’re first starting out. The one time I tried writing fiction it ended up just being a bad ripoff of the film Bringing Out the Dead.

Poor Mikiko… I am quite a fan of bishie Orihime though (not to say that he isn’t already a pretty bishounen!)

My hardest art block was probably when I was a kid… I’ve been drawing since I was about 7, but I vaguely remember a good chunk of my life where I could barely draw at all. I had to move to middle of nowhere, basically almost off the grid entirely, and we had limited Wi-Fi data so I couldn’t spend much time online. You’d think that’d give me a lot of time to draw traditionally at least, but not really… Thankfully I’m in a better situation now, with unlimited data! :’) And as you can see… I’m drawing a lot more!! Which I’m really stoked about!
